How do we learn

Recently I have been attending a course were it is important to write and practice what we learn, actively and in class. This is an online environment but we use Padlet and other tools and resources to share what we think. We also have the opportunity to share orally with our classmates and that works best for me.
Last year, however, I attended a course were there were long lectures on a subject or previous reading. Even if you completed the readings, which were too long, specially since we got only a week to complete them, it felt empty to hear someone reflect on that reading for more than an hour, because there was no other objective than to talk about the reading and its internal characteristics. At the end I usually felt disappointed and with no motivation to start another long reading.
